Process Shift

Folks, folks, folks. I have no illusions. I know I am typing to myself. And maybe Laurel, Matty, Tammy. I am the Dagbad Blogger. Just thought I'd let myself know that I finished a first draft of the new novel yesterday. One year and eight days is all it took, which in my book is alarmingly quick, considering the amount of surfing I managed to squeeze in as well. Now I shift to the next part of the process...the editing, the re-writing, etc., and who knows how long that will take?

Marked the shift with two beers last night and now I have the sniffles. Tough guy, they call me.

Lit Writ Sure

Did I mention I sold my motorcycle? Which is a bummer but riding the roads of L.A. got too sketchy. As a consolation prize, the proceeds from the sale are going into my fund for future surfboards and wetsuits. That's what my life is like, folks.

More importantly, I have finally joined the ranks of Los Angelenos by emblazoning the Silver Bullet (1990 Lincoln Town Car) with a so-called vanity plate.

Brian Eno

How exciting to get comments from Laurel and Tammy! Matt Tsing-Tao is NOT my only reader. Unless he's perpetrating. I think what we need from L & T are some substantiating details. How do I know you lovely ladies are not Mister Shindell in e-drag?

I am addicted right now to Brian Eno's Another Green World (and Taking Tiger Mountain...) Anyone else? Also, have you listened to Beck's Sea Change on a GOOD PAIR of HEADPHONES? Wow. Holm-boy brought some feeling to work.

I'm going to be teaching Introduction to Fiction at UCLA Extension next fall. If you're going to be in L.A., sign up kids!
