Bynum, silber

Saw Sarah Shun-Lien Bynum last night, reading from her new (amazing, utterly enchanting) book, MADELEINE IS SLEEPING, at Dutton's Books in Brentwood. Also bumped into fellow werkshopper Ami Silber, who, turns out, dates an elementary school classmate of my wife's. Unfortunately, I kooked it on the picture tip. Check out Sarah's book though. Epic.

But is it really "dating" when Z. and I have been together for six and a half years, and living together for three? Dates have become something of a rarity. Like now, Friday night, as we watch two baseball games to see whether the Anaheim Angels or the Los Angeles Dodgers will go to the championship playoffs, and the white load is spinning away, promising socks and bras for those that want them.

As I recall, I was one of the only people at Iowa who began and left the program in the same relationship. Is this an idicator of my virtue? Likely, no. But I'll cling to it all the same.
